Sleek Pout Paint - Minx

Sleek Pout Paint in Minx ($7.49 for 8ml/ 0.27fl.oz) is long dubbed a dupe (oh hey I'm sorry! :D) for the OCC Lip Tars. The range consists of 11 permanent shades that are meant to be either worn alone or mixed to create more unique colors, which is exactly the purpose of the Lip Tars. I do not have any OCC ones to compare so I will only focus on how this product works rather than how similar it is to the other. It comes in a squeeze transparent tube packaging style that allows you to distinguish the shade with a matte black cap, quite nice to look at and is extremely tiny: it measures around 6cm in length (what is this, a lip product for ants?)
Pout Paint is a lip stain like no other! Providing lips with intense colour and a long-lasting finish, it’s the perfect product when you demand more colour. Pout Paint is made to be mixed, so the possibilities are endless.
  • Provides full coverage that is light weight
  • Non-sticky and extremely buildable
Step One: Using a tiny amount of Pout Paint, smooth onto lips with your finger or a lip brush. A little goes a long way.
Step Two: Apply a thin layer for a satin lipstick-like finish, or a thicker layer for a glossy result.
Step Three: Use Peek-a-Bloo to add depth and warmth, Cloud 9 to lighten, or Lava to brighten and add vibrancy.
Ingredients: Polyisobutane, Polybutene, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Beeswax, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Silica, Butylated Hydroxy Anisole, Glycol Distearate, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcic (Sweet Almond)Oil, Octyl Palmitate, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Squalene, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin and Fragrance. Minx is a pale peach with a slight pink undertone. The first thing I noticed was that the yellow "oil" part coming out first when I squeezed the tube, which happens with almost all squeeze tube lip products. I do not mind much but I wish it never happened. The consistency is quite strange: you need the tiniest amount as suggested on the tube, at first it looks like nothing much but the more you work and spread it, the denser and drier the formula becomes. With a small amount the finish is quite velvety, but with a lot it is much more glossy, but not as much as a traditional gloss offers. To be honest I don't enjoy the color as it is a little too light for me, and it feels dry and heavy on my lips. The only way I can make it work is to mix it with more emollient lip products or balms, alone no way. For me it's not at all a must-have product, just a fun little product to try.
