Illamasqua Cream Pigment - Androgen

By 5/11/2014 09:30:00 am , , ,

Illamasqua Cream Pigment in Androgen - I do wonder why they chose such name, it sounds utterly irrelevant! (£17.50 for 8g) is describe as a coral. I specifically enjoy their detailed description where you can find almost all necessary information and usage recommendation regarding their products.
This intensely colour-rich, matt and crease-resistant formula has been designed for use on the face, eyes, lips and body. Apply with an Illamasqua brush or simply use your fingers for a buildable, water-resistant, highly pigmented finish.
This advanced formulation provides additional adhesion and colour-intensification when applied before Powder Eye Shadow and Pure Pigment. The product can be used sheer or built to full coverage. Apply with a longer bristle brush to achieve a sheer colour and texture payoff whereas selecting a flat brush will deposit more colour density and texture payoff.
INGREDIENTS: PARAFFINUM LIQUIDUM (MINERAL OIL), PARAFFIN, HYDROGENATED POLYISOBUTENE, OCTYLDODECANOL, CANDELILLA CERA (EUPHORBIA CERIFERA (CANDELILLA) AX), NYLON-12, CETYL PALMITATE, TOCOPHEROL, MAGNESIUM MYRISTATE, POLYMETHYL METHACRYLATE, CERA ALBA (BEESWAX), PETROLATUM, CERA CARNAUBA (COPERNICIA CERIFERA (CARNAUBA) WAX), OLETH-10, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, BHT, GLYCERYL STEARATE, ASCORBYL PALMITATE, CITRIC ACID [+/- MAY CONTAIN: CI 77891 (TITANIUM DIOXIDE), CI 75470 (CARMINE), CI 77007 (ULTRAMARINES), CI 77499 (IRON OXIDES), CI 77491 (IRON OXIDES), CI 77492 (IRON OXIDES), CI 77289 (CHROMIUM HYDROXIDE GREEN), CI 19140 (YELLOW 5 LAKE), CI 77742 (MANGANESE VIOLET), CI 16035 (RED 40 LAKE)] [NON-USA SHADES +/-: CI 12085, CI 45380, CI 45410].
Made in Germany

It comes in the usual Illamasqua-esque packaging with the sleek glossy heavy-duty plastic cap and transparent compact. The shape is actually not that unique since it is extremely similar to Kleancolor baked eyeshadows (sneak a peak here). Cheeky Illamasqua, or Kleancolor, I am not sure, but I do object the usual statement "oh such unique packaging!". Enough rambling, just stop. I seem to always have at least one complaint regarding their packaging choice, this time it is even more severe: why on earth did they choose to house a cream product in such a compact whose cap does not have any security feature (like it should have snapped shut and stayed in place) of all options? The cap literally is just put there and ready to pop out at any second. I cannot envision myself putting it in my makeup bag since the cap will just fall out and other things will mess the whole cream up. Furthermore it makes the product dry out much faster. Shame on you Illamasqua, bringing out such a fabulous product just to dry out in a short time is not a great strategy. Your trick is not working.

I feel like I am overly harsh on them today so here comes the bright note: this little pot rocks! As the swatch below suggests, it is a peachy coral color with a matte finish but once it is warmed up with my fingers (or your body heat rather, when you use your fingers to blend it out) it turns into a darker coral with stronger orange undertone. The product is a very thick, slightly dry cream that is superbly pigmented, easy to blend and can serve your multiple purposes, which ultimately is a great investment (also it offers 8g of product which is unusual for any prestige brands). I love it most sheered out as a cream blush using my fingers or brush to blend it out. The cream can be use in a thin layer as an eyeshadow base (thin only, otherwise on oily eyelids it will crease like crazy) and on the lips as well. Due to its ever so slightly dry texture, it does not feel the most comfortable on the lips, but mixed with a lipbalm or other more emollient products it works just fine.

Who does not want a peachy summery complexion? This, ladies and gentlemen, is a winner.
