Maybelline Colorsensational Lipsticks - Yummy Plummy, Mauve-ulous And Madison Mauve

When it comes to affordable lipsticks, the very first thing that pops into my mind is the beautiful range of Maybelline ColorSensational. I own quite a handful of them and enjoy each one equally. Today I have three new acquisitions of mine that at first look like only being autumn-appropriate but makeup is all about attitude so they're working year round for me: Yummy Plummy, Mauve-ulous and Madison Mauve (see part 1 which features 3 more here). They seem to not be available in stores anymore but you can easily snatch one off Amazon.

From left to right: Mauve-ulous, Madison Mauve, Yummy Plummy

The product comes in the standard packaging (round tube with a round base and purple cap) that feels quite secure. The cap scratches quite easily so it's better to keep an eye on these babies or they will look like vintage makeup - but not in a very flattering way. I especially like this kind of packaging since the tube does not roll around like that of other brands.
  • Yummy Plummy: medium neutral pink with a slight hint of plum, cream finish
  • Mauve-ulous: deeper pinky plum, I also detect a little red in it, cream finish
  • Madison Mauve: muted pink with a little lilac tone and teal fine shimmer
All three of them glide on with ease providing full color intensity (except Madison Mauve with requires a little more building-up). They are creamy, smooth and comfortable to wear. Due to their creaminess, the lipstick bullet can melt under the heat (which explains why the product in the pictures above looks a little horrifying), so they require to be stored in a cool place.

Yummy Plummy is a very easy color to wear since it has just a little plum in it that makes the lips not overly bright, but not too dark that it will look heavy. Mauve-ulous, on the other hand is a very "standard" autumn-winter color and Madison Mauve is definitely a fun color - however the shimmer does not translate too strongly on the lips so it still is very wearable (with just the tiniest bit of naughtiness).
