ABOUT

Thank you for passing by! It's such a pleasure to see that my dedication to beauty has reached you this far that you decided to take a look at the girl behind the scene.

Metal & Makeup was started on June 23, 2013 after months of self-reflection whether it would be agreeable to start a beauty blog while out there there are millions of the same mind. It all started with my mortifying realization of how horrible a lip balm was and I wanted to warn other people so much. The blog is designed and maintained by myself (with the very generous assistance of my junior colleague, kudos for you, kid!) from designing the blog banner, sections, features, layout and the like to photographing and writing my carefully thought-out blog contents.

I am a university graduate who is wasting her 8 hours a day on being a Customer Service Manager and you can call me whatever name you can come up with, but I call myself Nicola whenever I respond to a customer. I have been living in Vietnam my entire life, which is going to be 23 years (gah I feel old). I started applying makeup to myself not so long ago and back then the result was terrible, but after hours spent on watching various Youtube videos, here I am with my contemporary ideas about beauty being quite convinced that I have "mastered" the art of beautification (while it is evident that I have not and never will). My favorite things to do are obviously applying makeup to me and to anyone whose heart is brave enough, drawing, creating new looks, crawling over campaign advert pictures (especially those of Illamasqua's) and admiring the immense talent of the Pixiwoo sisters, Lisa Eldridge, Alex Box and Charlotte Tilbury.

I'm a [softly] hard-core metal fan and been spending so much time with my love - earphones - exploring bands that not many people have ever heard of. However it doesn't have any power over my affection for everything vintage: designs, jewelries, looks (not exactly pin-up though), books (let's talk about how satirical and enjoyable Jane Austen's works are) and so on. Oh, I'm also obsessed with anything Christmas-related!

I try to cover everything that I find interesting (which I hopefully think you do, too) and put it out there. Hope that you have found my posts helpful and entertaining as well. At the meantime, take care and have fun!
