July's Most Anticipated Release: Tarja - Victim Of Ritual Single
By Unknown 6/27/2013 11:44:00 am music
There's no need to mention that I'm a huge Tarja (Tarja Turunen, better known as the former vocalist of Finnish's Symphonic Metal band Nightwish) fan. I've been following her for 2 years, listening to every single song of hers and also have most of her standard releases (i.e My Winter Storm, What Lies Beneath, Tarja & Harus and Act I - CD & DVD).
It's so breath-taking to wait for a new album. You see, I've been waiting for months since when she announced that she was beginning to work on a new album. I was like "OMG, it's happening! It's happening!". I bet every music enthusiast understands my sentiment.
So, make it real not fantasy, here the single comes:
Front Cover |
RELEASE DATE: July 12th, 2013
DESCRIPTION FROM HER LABEL earMUSIC:
An evocative snare-drum that sounds like it was coming from a mysterious place, the tender sound of an orchestra joins followed by a familiar and seductive melody played by an oboe. When Tarja’s distinctive voice resounds through the speakers, her warm timbre fills the room. Her melody is full of emotions and tender, before the song explodes into an epic, heavy chorus:“Hysterical, tragical
Victim of ritual
Cynical, critical
Victim of ritual
She’s a killer, killer
She’s a killer, killer”- Excerpt of ‘Victim Of Ritual’ by TarjaInspired by the one-movement orchestral piece ‘Boléro’ by Maurice Ravel, the almost six minutes long, ‘Victim Of Ritual’ is the first single from Tarja’s forthcoming album “Colours In The Dark”. The song will be released as download, CD single and 7” vinyl on June 12th, 2013 via earMUSIC.
Both physical releases will surely become rare collector’s items, being made available in strictly limited quantities. The 4-songs digipak CD-single is limited to 3.000 copies worldwide, whereas the 2-track 7” vinyl is limited to only 1.500 units worldwide.
A video to ‘Victim Of Ritual’ is also scheduled for July.Tarja’s forthcoming new album “Colours In The Dark” will be released in August 2013 via earMUSIC. Mixed by Tim Palmer (Pearl Jam, U2) in Austin, Texas, the album is definitely going to be one of the brightest moments for rock in 2013.
While Tarja´s fans will have to be patient and wait a bit longer for the first video-clip from the new album, a first glimpse can be enjoyed with the teaser song ‘Never Enough’, and an unusual lyric video was made available on Youtube, iTunes and Spotify.
For regular updates, fans should make sure to check the official album website www.tarja-coloursinthedark.com on which Tarja personally posts blog-entries about the process of the new album, revealing lyrics, information and keeps in touch with her fans.Tracklist 7″ vinyl

I've listened to this song and it's a KILLER! Her voice is so dark, charismatic and powerful. I bet the new album will be a bomb as this song is so good it's a great sign *fan-girling*. The single cover is not really appropriate as it doesn't represent the song's soul and feelings.
The song starts in a very atmosphere that reminds me of a battlefield with blood, swords and sacrifice. A woman in black cape walks by and glances at my face with light gray eyes on a cold-looking blood-stained face that chills me to the bones.
The drumming is a distinctive new feature that has never appeared on her previous songs. Also this time she involves more orchestra to her melodies. In my personal opinion, this song showcases well her vocal range and ability. I especially enjoy the high notes, the "r-r-r-r-itual" and dark feelings of this particular song. If other songs from the new album can equally (if not better) be this good, I'll certainly have a heart-attack (in a good way) thanks to its awesomeness. Overall I'm totally hooked!

OLAY Natural White Fairness Day + Night Creme Review
By Unknown 6/24/2013 10:49:00 pm reviews
Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you to the ol' Olay Natural White Fairness Day + Night Creme. Hmmmgghh, quite a splendid start, isn't it? Or rather loud and silly, I would say :)
Anyway, I didn't pay much attention to skincare, like.. NOT AT ALL. My whole routine was to just rub my face with the oldie but goodie Clean&Clear Daily Pore Cleanser (which I will review very soon), and sometimes as a special treat: mud or peel mask. However, due to a heart-breaking *crocodile tears* (which I hate to mention, but y'all understand me, right? We all have secrets to keep, and to make others mad at our not telling them heh?) I began to pay a little tiny bit more on my skin. That was when I stumbled upon this Olay product.
Here in Vietnam we don't have many choices, especially for a student's pocket, so I was allured by these skincare products which are quite affordable. I don't just rub the cream on the back of my hand and say it's a nice one. For me, only things that really work are worth mentioning.
The Olay Natural White Fairness Night Creme comes in two different formulas: Normal and Rich. Here let me show you the two as I've used up the Normal and now I'm experiencing the Rich *If I was a rich girl, na na, na na, na na, na na na na, na na, na na na, see, I'd have all the money in the world if I was a wealthy girl - Gwen Stefani, aaah I loved that song*
The Normal Formula:
The Rich Formula:
What the company claims:
Nourishes your skin with nutrients while you sleep for a healthy-looking natural fairness that glows.Olay natural white healthy fairness night cream is specially designed to give your skin, nutrients at night for a healthy-looking natural fairness that glows.
Its formula with triple nutrient system-vitamin B3,PRO-b5 and E nourishes your skin while you sleep to reduce the appearance of dark spots and dullness. Resulting in a healthy looking natural fairness that glows every morning.
I do find that there's no obvious difference between the two formulas, and the effect / feel is really similar.
- Packaging: 50g each, in a sheer white container with silvery white cap.
- Consistency: both cream are neither thick nor runny, let's say... they're creamy (what??? LOL). They absorb to the skin quickly and leave a very moisturizing feel on the skin. As what the company says, they do have a nice moisturizing property, make the skin soft, smooth and almost baby-skin touch.
- Color: the Normal is just white but the Rich is slightly pink.
- Smell: I cannot really describe it, the creme has a nice pleasant faint scent to it. It is definitely chemical, but in a good way, yumm.
- Ingredients: I could just find the complete list of ingredients for the Rich formula unfortunately, but it is likely that they both are similar.
water, glycerin, niacinamide, isohexadecane, butylene glycol, dimethicone, isopropyl isostearate, sorbitan stearate, cetyl alcohol, sucrose polycottonseedate, panthenol, tocopheryl acetate, stearyl alcohol, carbomer, dimethiconol, benzyl alcohol, ethylparaben, fragrance, peg-100 stearate, propylparaben, sodium hydroxide, stearic acid, disodium edta, acrylates/c10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, sucrose cocoate, hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene carboxaldehyde, linalool, butylphenyl methylpropional, benzyl salicylate, alpha-isomethyl ionone, morus alba root extract, ammonium polyacrylate, milk lipids, citrus grandis (grapefruit) fruit extract, crataegus cuneata fruit extract, pyrus malus (apple) fruit extract, zizyphus jujuba fruit extract, lilium candidum bulb extract, ceramide 3, citrus aurantifolia (lime) juice, citrus aurantium dulcis (orange) juice, citrus medica limonum (lemon) juice, ci 77891, ci 19140, ci 16035.
So far I've been loving these, which is quite self-explanatory as I used up one and now using the second, and still in love. I really like the feel it leaves on my skin, the smell, the perfect consistency and how soft my skin feels the morning after. I don't personally think it whitens my face, which I don't at all expect, but for the moisture it gives, I do like and recommend this.
Now to the Olay Natural White Fairness Night Creme. I bought it several weeks ago but I may say that I, again, like it. I do have extremely oily skin, however it does not mean that my face does not need care and moisture. I'm no skincare expert, but as I've heard, the face has so much oil *blegh* because it needs oil to moisture the skin. Furthermore, now I'm working on an air-conditioned room, means I need to take skincare to a more serious level. I bought it in a tiny 20g tube to test it out first before getting a full size.
What the company claims:
Contains Olay’s Triple Vitamin System to nourish skin with the essential vitamins – B3, Pro-B5 and E to moisturise, protect and reduce the appearance of dark spots and dullness for a healthy-looking natural fairness that glows from within.
Recommended for people with Dry to Normal skin type.
Key Benefits of Triple Vitamin System:

- Smell: quite similar to the night cream's.

By far I do love all the three products and highly recommend them. Tell me what you think! x

Rant #1 - NIVEA Fruity Shine Lip Balm in Strawberry
By Unknown 6/20/2013 03:34:00 pm reviews
So I am here in my office being so cold thanks to the damn air-conditioner, any help? No you can't have it, cuz this is an office, not your own home *sigh*
Anyway, STARTING A BLOG IS HARD! I've no idea how other beauty bloggers can have such beautiful blogs with templates, banner, social media buttons, separate archives and sections etc. I just have no idea. I started this blog awhile back (aka 6-7 months ago) while I was going to have my final exams. You just have so many random priorities during finals. I know that feel, bro. Anyway, as now school is almost over, I guess I will dedicate my free time on reviewing random things that I'm obsessed with or ranting.
Back to topic, today it's about the Nivea Fruity Shine Lip balm in Strawberry.
I have had it for awhile already for around $2.50. I'm not sure if they're still available as it was launch awhile back, but you can easily get Nivea in any Drugstore / Walgreens / CVS or your local makeup shops. Actually at first I bought my mother the same one and me just the original Nivea lip balm with light blue packaging (and it was good! I should repurchase it some day *lippie-addict-problem*), then I couldn't resist the temptation so I got myself one, too.
This comes in a nice little red tube (no, just NO, no implication here). The product itself has some nice shimmer in it, and has a pleasant strawberry smell (what would you expect a strawberry lippie to smell like, some straw??) which adds up to the already mentioned temptation. When applied to the lip it gives a sheer red tint and moisturizes pretty well.
However, I started to notice why my lips were so blotchy and they became drier after awhile! Usually I exfoliate my lips well before bedtime, then apply some Vaseline, then I do the same thing in the morning. Look at the photo below to see how horrendous the swatch / blotch is. I couldn't believe that's what my lips looked like the whole day at work. Gah!
You might like it:
- Pretty moisturizing
- Sweet strawberry smell
- Gives a sheer hint of color
- Nice compact packaging + the product's appearance itself (i.e the shimmer)
You might choose to avoid it:
- Not extremely moisturizing for super chapped lips
- Transfers like crazy
- Will not last long, needs to be reapplied every now and then
- Makes your lips actually WORSE
Bottom line: NO, I will not repurchase at all.
Let me know what you think! x
